Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) treatment is most effective with Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), a specialized form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. ERP involves gradually and deliberately exposing individuals to feared situations or thoughts while refraining from compulsive behaviors, helping to break the cycle of obsessions and compulsions.

ERP requires therapists with specific training in OCD protocols. Medication — particularly SSRIs at higher doses than are typical for depression — is also commonly used alongside ERP and can improve treatment outcomes.
