On the worst night of my life, Michael Thomas made me feel small and beneath him. My loved one died of an overdose. When the code was stopped and I felt as though I might die as well, the best he could muster was 'you knew it would end this way' in a tone that expressed disgust. For almost 3 years those words cut my heart. Then I requested my loved ones complete medical record. Michael Thomas with his Caribbean island medical degree decided it would be appropriate to use those exact same words as "chief complaint" in a permanent medical record. He is employed by middle Tennessee emergency physicians not ascension. Contacting administration and compliance is all but impossible. Stones river and Dekalb share a single person as admin/compliance officer. Upon speaking with this person I was told the doctor was not their employee and they couldn't do anything about the Drs behavior. 6 months ago I requested the chart be amended to reflect chief medical complaint yet here I am still pushing. Dr thomas engages in malicious charting (it's a thing). He makes fun of poor people, old people, addicts (often refusing adequate care, as if addiction was not a disease). StThomas administrative staff and medical records have made correcting the absurd charting by Thomas nearly impossible. I will never forgive him. He could have shown compassion during a terrible experience but he chose smart aleck instead and no one will call him on it. I fully intend to bother them and him until the chart is amended and if thomas was a decent human he would apologize to me for charting that absurd chief complaint.
