Facility Overview

The Providence Center has been a cornerstone of behavioral health care in Rhode Island since 1969, serving more than 18,000 individuals each year. It offers a wide range of mental health and substance use treatment services delivered in homes, schools, and neighborhoods. With a focus on innovation and community responsiveness, the center has consistently evolved to meet the changing needs of those it serves.

Through more than 60 programs, The Providence Center provides comprehensive wraparound services that go beyond traditional treatment. These include assistance with food and housing, job training, legal support, primary health care, and wellness initiatives. Since joining the Care New England Health System in 2014, the center has expanded its ability to offer integrated and coordinated care to individuals and families across the state.

The center’s mission is to support adults, adolescents, and children affected by psychiatric illness, emotional challenges, and addiction. Its vision is to build a behavioral health care system where every individual receives a full spectrum of services tailored to their unique needs. This commitment is reflected in its values of patient-centered care, a skilled and compassionate workforce, ethical integrity, community collaboration, and long-term stability.
