The Behavioral Care Center, located at 433 Gay Street in Nashville, Tennessee, is a state-licensed, short-term residential treatment facility operated by the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office. This innovative program offers an alternative to traditional incarceration by providing therapeutic care in a secure, supportive environment. With a capacity of 60 beds—30 for men and 30 for women—the center is uniquely positioned to address the mental health and substance use needs of justice-involved adults through individualized, trauma-informed treatment. Residents are referred through a partnership involving the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, the District Attorney’s Office, and the Public Defender’s Office, with the goal of decriminalizing mental illness and offering recovery instead of jail time.
At the Behavioral Care Center, each individual receives a personalized treatment plan based on comprehensive assessments. Services include individual and group therapy, medication management, and discharge planning, all within a gender-responsive and trauma-informed framework. The program emphasizes accountability and healing while connecting residents to critical community resources upon discharge to ensure continuity of care. Through this approach, the center not only treats behavioral health challenges but also aims to reduce recidivism and promote long-term wellness. By diverting qualifying individuals from the criminal justice system, the facility plays a vital role in transforming how Nashville addresses behavioral health crises.
When my psychotherapy clients need to consult with someone about the possibility of medication, I usually refer them to Rhonda Bartine because not only is she excellent at psychiatry, but she takes the time to really understand her patients' strengths and challenges -- she connect and collaborates with them.
Miriam Rose was instrumental in helping my father with his depression and helping with his dementia. She was professional and an advocate for our family as we were going through a difficult time. I highly recommend her, and am so grateful to have had her help!

I’ve waited a really long time to write this, but decided it’s finally time. I’m currently 16 months sober, and I owe so much of that to the team at Live Again Detox. This wasn’t my first rodeo, or even my second, but more along the lines of “oh, we doing this again?” I’ve been to some really terrible places in my recovery journey over the last 17 years, but Live Again ranks among the best. From day one, I was treated with care and compassion and I could tell that the clinicians, nurses, and recovery team really cared. They handled me with care and dignity, helping me to feel seen and heard for the first time in a long time. The catering was top-notch and there were groceries runs about 1x week. The bedrooms provided were spacious and clean (and there’s even a tv provided!) The communal areas were always kept well stocked with snacks and drinks. The living room area had video game consoles as well as a large selection of novels to choose from, should you feel so inclined. There was ample opportunities to attend in-house recovery meetings, such as AA. There are counselors on site to visit with as needed. Live Again truly helped me to set a solid foundation for recovery, and I have recommended them several times since I left their care. If you are in need for specialized SUD care, I highly recommend these guys! Thank you, care team for making me feel like a person again.
Dr. Quaseum is literally the greatest psychiatrist in nashville! Her entire practice is so wonderful and highly recommend for anything related to mental health!
Best mental health place. Truly having the best experience. The providers genuinely care about you and make time. They are holistic in the way they take into account who you are as a woman and a person. Can’t imagine going anywhere else :)
