About Residential Treatment

Residential treatment programs provide intensive, 24-hour structured care in a live-in therapeutic setting. They are designed for individuals whose symptoms or circumstances make it difficult to maintain safety and engagement in treatment on an outpatient basis — including those with severe depression, active psychosis, complex trauma, eating disorders, or serious substance use disorders.

Programs typically include individual therapy, group therapy, psychiatric evaluation and medication management, life skills training, and family involvement. Length of stay varies widely, from short-term stabilization programs of a few weeks to longer-term programs lasting several months. Upon completion, residents are generally transitioned to a lower level of care such as a partial hospitalization program or intensive outpatient program.
