Mental Health Providers in Winchester, Kansas

My mom was a patient here. Some of her nurses were wonderful, some were just hateful because she would ask for her medications or assistance and they were annoyed, clearly. Her doctor - inattentive, rude, and belittling. I called them because she was having issues that were not improving and they were NOT looking into other causes. I don’t old them that I wanted to discuss another hospital as an option and the doctor called me back. I tried expressing my frustration and she talked over me, would not listen to my reasoning, she even said “well we can’t agree on a care plan so my recommendation would be for her to discharge AMA.” I don’t know how a doctor can recommend a patient leave and consider it AMA, but okay… after 10 minutes of arguing back and forth about it being silly that I just accept her opinion as fact, I told her what is the harm of looking into other causes if we aren’t seeing any improvement! Her answer was a very smug “I am the attending physician!” My mother was supposed to be in this hospital for 8-12 weeks and they were literally planning to plop her in a bed, put a bandaid on her issues, hope it fixed them, and refuse to look into other causes. Just because you’re a doctor does NOT mean that your first opinion of a patients condition is always the right one. I will never recommend this hospital to anyone. It’s sad because some of the nurses were very kind and worth a ton. Added: a text from my mother about 20 minutes after my call with DR WILLIS “Dr Willis said I am not welcome back to this hospital because I disagree with their care.” They went straight to her room with AMA paperwork without talking to her about it, entirely based off my conversation with the ATTENDING PHYSICIAN.
