The Jay Mahler Recovery Center in San Leandro, California, is a 16-bed intensive mental health facility dedicated to supporting adults experiencing psychiatric crises. Named after renowned mental health advocate Jay Mahler, the center reflects his lifelong dedication to empowering individuals with mental health conditions. Funded by Alameda County Behavioral Health, this facility offers 24/7 wraparound support from a multidisciplinary team of clinicians, nurses, therapists, and peers—all committed to creating a safe and respectful healing environment.

Treatment services at the Jay Mahler Recovery Center are guided by evidence-based practices including Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), and Seeking Safety. Clients benefit from a wide range of supports such as "Individual Therapy", "Group Therapy", "Medication Management Education", "Substance Recovery", "Mindfulness", and "Living Skills Training". Additional offerings include "Art Therapy", "Vocational Skills Training", "Self-Advocacy Training", "Aftercare Planning", and services tailored for "Transitional Age Youth (TAY)" aged 18–24.

Designed under Telecare’s Recovery-Centered Clinical System (RCCS), the program prioritizes harm reduction, personal empowerment, and cultural responsiveness. With a “no-force first” approach, the Jay Mahler Recovery Center provides a trauma-informed path to wellness, aiming to stabilize individuals and help them transition to lower levels of care with greater confidence and independence.
