The Centers for Independence – Crisis Resource Center, located at 2057 South 14th Street in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, offers a vital lifeline for individuals experiencing acute mental health or substance-related crises. Designed as a community-based alternative to emergency rooms or inpatient psychiatric hospitalization, this 24/7 facility provides immediate access to stabilization and behavioral health care in a supportive, home-like setting. The Crisis Resource Center (CRC) combines recovery-focused assessment, psychosocial group interventions, and peer support to help individuals navigate mental health challenges with dignity and respect.
The CRC follows a trauma-informed and evidence-based care model, ensuring services are both clinically sound and person-centered. In addition to mental health and substance use interventions, clients have access to telehealth and telepsychiatry, primary medical care, housing support, benefits coordination, employment resources, and follow-up care. By addressing both the acute crisis and the social determinants that often contribute to behavioral health instability, the CRC supports individuals in achieving long-term recovery and stability.
