WMU Behavioral Health and Substance Abuse Services is a licensed and accredited outpatient treatment provider located on the Western Michigan University campus in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Formerly known as the University Substance Abuse Clinic, the program offers comprehensive behavioral health and substance use disorder services delivered by Michigan-licensed clinicians with specialized training in assessment, individual, group, and family therapy. Services are available to members of the Kalamazoo and southwest Michigan community, including university students, young adults, and individuals referred through legal or academic systems.
The clinic provides outpatient counseling for substance use disorders, co-occurring mental health conditions, mood-related concerns, trauma-related stress, and life transition challenges. Additional services include substance use evaluations, prevention and diversion programming, consultation and education, and driver’s license restoration support for individuals impacted by alcohol- or drug-related offenses.
