Western Mental Health Institute (WMHI) is a state-operated psychiatric hospital located in Bolivar, Tennessee, serving 24 counties across West Tennessee. Established in 1889, the facility offers a total of 150 beds across various specialized units, including four sub-acute units, two acute care units, forensic services, and therapeutic treatment units.
WMHI is committed to delivering high-quality, compassionate mental health care with a focus on service excellence. Its mission is to support recovery and help individuals transition successfully back into their communities through personalized and comprehensive treatment. The hospital primarily serves individuals with severe and persistent mental illness who are often hospitalized involuntarily and lack access to private inpatient care options.
