Alabama Psychiatry, a division of River Region Psychiatry Associates, was established in 2008 by Dr. Shankar Yalamanchili—also known as Dr. Chili. Headquartered in Montgomery, Alabama, the practice operates 12 outpatient clinics throughout the state, with plans for continued expansion. It is part of a broader network that includes Alabama, Alabama, and Alabama Psychiatry.
The multidisciplinary team at Alabama Psychiatry consists of psychiatrists, psychologists (Ph.D.s), certified registered nurse practitioners (CRNPs), licensed clinical social workers (LICSWs), licensed professional counselors, and dedicated support staff. Together, they provide care both in outpatient clinic settings and across more than 30 hospitals and facilities in seven states.
Dr. Chili’s founding vision has always centered on increasing access to quality mental health care for those who need it most—when they need it most. Grounded in a belief in the mind-body connection, the practice aims to address mental health as a critical component of overall well-being. Alabama Psychiatry has expanded its services across a variety of settings, embracing the diversity of each community it serves and treating every patient as a whole person, not just a collection of symptoms.
The team offers individualized treatment plans that may include medication management, individual, family, or group therapy, and psychological assessments. These personalized approaches ensure each patient receives the tools and support needed to work toward emotional wellness.
Alabama Psychiatry is committed to the idea that good mental health is central to a healthy life. Its mission is to provide the care, resources, and support necessary for individuals to achieve and maintain emotional well-being.
