Facility Overview

The Northern Idaho Crisis Center provides immediate, no-cost crisis support for adults experiencing mental health or substance-related emergencies in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, and surrounding northern Idaho communities. Open twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, the center offers a safe, private, and voluntary environment where individuals can receive compassionate support during times of acute emotional distress. No referral is required, and individuals may arrive on their own or with the support of friends or family members.

Operated by Kootenai Health in partnership with Panhandle Health District and Heritage Health, the crisis center focuses on stabilization, safety, and connection to ongoing care. Services include crisis intervention, suicide prevention support, de-escalation, peer support, and short-term respite stays of up to twenty-four hours. Before leaving, each individual is connected with appropriate community resources or referred to higher levels of care when needed, helping ensure continuity of support beyond the immediate crisis.
