Children’s Home of Stockton, located in Stockton, California, has been serving at-risk youth for over 140 years and is the largest licensed Short-Term Residential Therapeutic Program (STRTP) in San Joaquin County. The facility provides a safe, nurturing environment for children, adolescents, and non-minor dependents who have experienced trauma or face complex social, emotional, and behavioral challenges. With a focus on individualized care, Children’s Home of Stockton offers evidence-based therapy, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and the Seeking Safety treatment model, alongside trauma-informed and culturally relevant practices. Youth receive comprehensive mental health counseling, group and individual therapy, and substance abuse education, all designed to promote healing, growth, and long-term resilience.
Children’s Home of Stockton also emphasizes transitional and independent living skills for young adults through its Catalyst Homeless Prevention Program. Transitional Age Youth (TAY) coaches provide mentorship, guidance, and support for housing applications, mental health referrals, parenting classes, case planning, and transitional goal setting. The facility offers career and education assistance, including high school completion, GED attainment, college or trade school enrollment support, financial aid guidance, job training, resume building, and interview preparation. Ongoing aftercare support is available for up to six months to ensure a successful transition into the community. By combining clinical care with skill-building programs, educational support, and life skills training, Children’s Home of Stockton empowers youth to overcome adversity, build independence, and thrive.
